Robert A. Wolff has been named president of The Financial Group, a Newport Beach investment banking firm that has raised more than $130 million in construction loans in the 11 months since its inception. Wolff, a former banker and independent financial consultant, will serve as The Financial Group’s chief operating officer, reporting to Dianne E. Davega, chairman, chief executive officer and a founder of the company.

Wolff operated his own consulting company in Orange County before being named president of The Financial Group. He also served as vice president of First National Bank of Commerce in New Orleans and held executive positions with several other banks, including Chase Manhattan in New York.

Kenneth J. Simmons has joined Distributed Logic Corp. in Anaheim as senior staff engineer in the company’s new product development group.

Archive Corp. in Costa Mesa has reorganized its marketing department and created two new directors to handle sales for the computer-storage equipment maker.

Terrence Green has been hired as director of program management and Louis Domshy, formerly Archives product manager for controllers, has been promoted to product marketing director. Both will report to Tom Makmann, vice president for marketing and sales.

Additionally, Dale Spindler has been recruited to head the technical support group.

Archive’s product marketing responsibilities will be handled by Michael Johnson, James Rushton, Farah Andersen and Mark Jones.

Ronald J. Speyer has resigned as the managing partner of the Diehl, Speyer & Brown investment bankers to open his own mergers and acquisitions firm, Speyer Acquisition Services in Newport Beach. The new company will serve company owners wishing to sell their firms and provide strategic planning for companies seeking to be acquired, equity placements and acquisition financing.

Jack Bertch has been named director of original equipment manufacturing and major accounts marketing at Alpha Microsystems in Irvine. In his 24 years in the computer field, Bertch has held posts with a variety of companies, including McDonnell Douglas Computer Systems Co. where he served as vice president for sales and marketing.

Alpha Micro also announced the promotion of Jeffrey Stanger to the new position of vice president for human resources. Stanger, who had previously served as director of the human resources department, will retain responsibility for all personnel-related matters, including employment, pay, benefits and training.

John J. McCarthy has been named vice president of marketing at Genisco Computers Corp. in Costa Mesa. The announcement was made by Genisco’s president and chief executive, Peter J. Shaw.
