The Jim Gilliam Recreation Center, the city’s newest and largest recreation facility, has been officially opened near Baldwin Hills. The center, on South La Brea Avenue, includes a high school regulation basketball court and multipurpose room, a senior citizens’ wing, a stage and crafts room, a day-care area and classrooms. The center is part of the 17-acre park, named in memory of the late Dodger baseball star.
