Protest Sentence

Share

The Times reported (March 28) that a court in Missouri locked up four people for up to 18 years for trying to disarm a Minuteman 2 missile. Judge D. Brook Bartlett remarked in handing down the sentence, “What a monumental waste for the four of you.”

Directly next to this debacle is an article in which Sen. John Glenn (D-Ohio) comments that . . . “the cost of building the missile (MX) could be more than double the $21 billion that the Reagan Administration has estimated . . .”

So while Helen D. Woodson, Father Carl Kabat, Father Paul Kabat and Lawrence Cloud-Morgan, in their obviously symbolic gesture are wastefully and senselessly incarcerated--the real criminals invest our tax dollars in schemes like the MX, “Star Wars,” and Midgetman.
