TURKEY ADDS A 2ND TV CHANNEL
From Reuters
ANKARA, Turkey —
Turkey is to have a second television channel under a newly announced government decision, the semi-official Anatolian News Agency said.
Pilot broadcasts will begin soon in Ankara, Izmir and Istanbul and in border areas of the south and east of the country.
Officials said the government is concerned that people living in these border areas are watching Syrian and Iraqi television rather than Turkey’s only channel.
