GE is moving to get a defense contract ban lifted.

Air Force Secretary Verne Orr announced March 28 that General Electric was being barred indefinitely from receiving any new defense contracts because of its indictment on fraud charges two days earlier. Jack Batty, a GE spokesman, said the company submitted information “aimed at assuring the Air Force that General Electric is a responsible defense contractor.” Batty refused to elaborate on the documents delivered to the Pentagon beyond saying that they “outline the steps we have already implemented or will implement” to improve contracting procedures.
