San Diego County supervisors agreed Tuesday to grant as much as $25,000 in hotel-room tax revenues to three Balboa park museums that have lost county support during the last two years. The Museum of Art, Museum of Man and the Natural History Museum will get the money, which will come from an increase in the tourist tax the county approved earlier this year. Over the past two years, the county has cut more than $100,000 from its support for the museums in favor of spending the money on tourist-related services in unincorporated areas. Another $5,000 from the increased tax was earmarked Tuesday for the lifeguards on beaches in South County. In a related action, the board approved Supervisor Susan Golding’s request to spend $14,000 in tourist tax money already allocated for her district on equipment for lifeguards on beaches from Mission Beach to Encinitas.
