Pomona : Ex-Official Sentenced for Molesting Girl, 13
A former Irwindale city councilman has been sentenced in Pomona Superior Court to five years probation and ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment for molesting a 13-year-old girl last year.
Henry Virgen Barbosa Sr., 61, also was forbidden to have contact with girls under 18 unless in the presence of another adult, as part of the sentence issued by Judge Burton Bach last week.
Barbosa pleaded guilty in November to three counts of performing lewd acts with a child under 14. He also pleaded guilty to committing the crimes while occupying a position of “special trust” with the child.
The judge also imposed a fine of $5,000, but said Barbosa may deduct his treatment expenses from that amount. He was ordered to return to the court April 4, 1986, for a progress report.
Barbosa had served intermittently on the Irwindale council since 1957.
