Falwell Sympathizes With 4 Accused Clinic Bombers

PENSACOLA, Fla. —
The Rev. Jerry Falwell said Thursday that although he opposes acts of violence against abortion clinics, he sympathizes with four persons facing trial next week on charges of bombing several clinics and would consider donating money to their defense. Falwell said that the four charged in the bombings “are probably sincere people” and added that they helped focus national attention on abortion.
