Mexico Safety

Share

The March 24 letter regarding travel in Mexico, written by an American who runs a hotel in Puerto Vallarta, misleads your readers by scoffing at and ignoring facts. . . . There is no doubt, despite what this person writes, that Americans in Mexico are at some risk. The March 11 U.S. News and World Report tells of the disappearance this year of six Americans, not including the disappearance and murder of an American narcotics agent. Also reported are nine acts of violence, including homicide, rape and robbery against U.S. citizens in Puerto Vallarta in January alone. To ignore these facts is to hide one’s head in the sand, which I fear is exactly what the hotel keeper in Puerto Vallarta would have us do.
