As more people are becoming aware, the small symbol placed next to television program listings indicates closed captioning for the hearing impaired. It has been extremely gratifying to see not only ABC and PBS carry the bulk of captioning for the hearing impaired, but to see other networks follow suit as well. It is the hope of all of us that this will continue so that we may be able to enjoy programs that hearing people take for granted.
