The spiritual leader of 560,000 Roman Catholics in Minnesota finished his drunken driving jail sentence in time to celebrate Mass at the St. Paul Cathedral and urge followers to keep faith in Christ. John Roach, archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis, spent 38 hours in the Ramsey County Jail. Roach was kept apart from other prisoners and spent most of his time reading in the dayroom, a jail spokesman said. The 63-year-old past president of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops vowed to quit drinking after his arrest Feb. 21.
