A judge Monday revoked a $150,000 bond and ordered the arrest of businessman Sidney L. Jaffe after the naturalized Canadian failed to appear for trial on a charge of organized fraud.

But Jaffe, whose 1981 apprehension in Toronto by bounty hunters provoked protests by Canada, said he will not return to Florida to face charges that he considers “false and baseless” until the Canadian and U.S. governments settle the issue. “I’m sitting here,” Jaffe said in Toronto.

The charge against Jaffe involves losses of $2.2 million by about 250 victims in North Florida land sales in the late 1970s, said Melvin Stack, assistant state attorney.
