Orange County would get seven new Superior Court judgeships eventually if the state Legislature approves the Board of Supervisors’ request for the positions. The board voted 4 to 0 to support the court expansion after a state Judicial Council study showed that felony cases increased about 25% in 1984 and the volume of other kinds of cases also grew rapidly. County officials said state Sen. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach) may add the county’s request to exisiting judicial legislation.
