Intermagnetics General in Venture With Dutch Firm

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. — Intermagnetics General and Smit Nymegen, based in Nijmegen, Netherlands, said they agreed in principle to form a joint venture to develop, manufacture and market superconducting magnet systems.
The joint venture, to be called Intersmit, will be located at Nijmegen, Netherlands.
The companies said the venture will focus its primary activities on the supply of high-quality superconducting magnet systems or medical magnetic resonance imaging systems.
Smit Nymegen is a specialty transformer manufacturer.
