Perception Problem
Supervisor Brian Bilbray’s satisfaction with San Diego County’s relaxed restrictions on the payment of welfare benefits to the homeless is indicative of an out-of-touch politician (“County to Ease Criteria for Welfare Benefits,” April 10).
Bilbray said he was satisfied that the relaxed restrictions will be strong enough to keep people who prefer to be homeless from living off welfare.
Perhaps Mr. Bilbray needs to be educated or told that being homeless is like being poor--nobody “prefers” it.
