Air Force Gen. Jerome F. O’Malley, commander of the Tactical Air Command, was among five persons killed Saturday in the crash of a small military plane, authorities said.

The plane, an Air Force CT-39, landed at Scranton-Wilkes-Barre International Airport, where it ran off the end of the runway, went down an embankment and burst into flames, police said. The Tactical Air Command is the branch of the Air Force that oversees fighter planes.
