A 1935 Hispano Suiza driven by British actor Roger Moore in the James Bond film “Moonraker” reached a new European record sale for old cars at an auction sale near Paris on Sunday.

The 12-cylinder convertible was acquired for $260,000 at an exclusive auction sale in the 17th-Century Fontainebleau Palace, 30 miles south of Paris. Auctioneers said this was a new European record. The previous record sale was for a Bugatti that went for $100,000 in 1982.

The auctioneers said that 10 cars of the type sold Sunday had been made, of which four are still being driven, including two in the United States. Auctioneers refused to give either the names of the former owner or the new owners of the Hispano Suiza.
