Rams Pick Texas All-American

The Rams today selected Texas defensive back Jerry Gray, a two-time All-American, in the first round of the National Football League draft, and the Raiders chose wide receiver Jessie Hester of Florida State.
Gray, chosen 21st in round one by the Rams, tied a school record with seven interceptions as a free safety last season, and his 16 career interceptions were one short of the Texas record. The Raiders went for Hester with the 23rd pick. Considered a notch below the top three receivers in the draft, Hester is believed capable of becoming the game-breaking threat the Raiders lacked last year.
