‘A CHORUS LINE’ TO OPEN AT ANAHEIM DINNER THEATER

The California dinner theater premiere run of “A Chorus Line,” the multiaward winning Broadway musical, will open June 11 at the Grand Dinner Theatre in Anaheim.

Gene Nelson, the former dance star of Warner Bros. musicals and the movie version of “Oklahoma,” is scheduled to stage the Grand version. The producer is Frank Wyka, the Grand’s managing director.

The Grand version, scheduled to run through Jan. 5, will be choreographed by Martie Ramm, who served as chorus captain in the New York production. The music director will be William Lockwood.

The original book is by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, with the original music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleben.

(The original 1975 Broadway production of “A Chorus Line,” directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, won a Pulitzer Prize and several Tony Awards. The Broadway version is still running. A movie version, directed by Richard Attenborough, is set to be released late this fall.)
