Chile Renews State of Siege

SANTIAGO, Chile —
President Augusto Pinochet on Monday renewed for three more months the state of siege in force in Chile since last November, extending harsh restrictions on the press and freedom of association. The government says the measure is needed to combat left-wing guerrillas.
