Prime Minister Rashid Karami conferred today with representatives of Syrian-backed PLO factions visiting Beirut publicly for the first time since the PLO was ousted from the city in 1982.

The state radio quoted a member of the five-man team as saying the visit was aimed at “coordinating the relations between the people of Lebanon and the Palestinians living in Lebanon.” The visitors were from five PLO factions opposed to Yasser Arafat, chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
