LOS ANGELES COUNTY

San Bernardino-based Kasler Corp. received a $38.2-million contract from the California Department of Transportation to build a freeway, flood-control channel and 11 bridges in Chula Vista, Calif. The contract brings Kasler’s backlog to a record $184 million, the company said.

Parsons Corp., Pasadena, was selected to design and build a privately funded waste-water treatment plant in Pennsylvania and to study the “privatization” of a treatment plant and waste-water collection system in San Luis Obispo County.

Reynolds Aluminum Building Products Co., a division of Reynolds Aluminum, moved its California headquarters from Los Alamitos to Paramount.

Universal Furniture Ltd., Whittier, said it acquired Transworld Furniture Manufacturing Co. of Aberdare, Wales. Transworld will be renamed Universal Furniture Industries (U.K.) Ltd. and continue to distribute Universal products in the United Kingdom.

American Medical International Inc., Beverly Hills, said it invested $3.5 million in Oakland-based Novacor Medical Corp. and has received a seat on Novacor’s board of directors.

Carson-based Tylan Corp. said it intends to acquire Microsensor Technology Inc., a privately held firm in Fremont, Calif. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Scan-Tron Corp., Rancho Dominguez, acquired American Testronics, which develops standardized education tests. The value of the cash transaction wasn’t disclosed.

Maxicare Health Plans Inc., Los Angeles, said it received approval from the Texas State Board of Insurance to operate its Maxicare North Texas Inc. health maintenance organization in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Rancho Dominguez-based Genisco Technology Corp. agreed to a computer and technology transfer with Data Cable Pty Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia.

International Rectifier Corp., El Segundo, signed a $4.2-million industrial-technology transfer agreement with Tianjin International Trust & Investment Corp. and the China National Technical Import Corp. of Peking.

Logicon Inc., Torrance, received a $3.4-million Air Force contract to continue work in software analysis for land- and sea-launched missiles.

CALIFORNIA

Probe Technology Corp., Santa Clara, has been acquired by Micro Mask Inc. in a stock transaction worth about $1.4 million.
