COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —
Tamil separatist guerrillas killed 78 people and wounded 100 others today in an attack on a bus stop in the town of Anuradhapura, a government official said.
The senior official, speaking on condition he not be identified, said those killed included 30 women, five children, one Buddhist monk and four Buddhist nuns. An 18-hour curfew was imposed in Anuradhapura to prevent anti-Tamil rioting.
