The Nation : Drug Tests on Elderly Told
Elderly nursing home residents, some of them senile or illiterate, have served as unwitting guinea pigs for experimental new drugs, according to a report released in Washington by a senior citizens group. The National Council for Senior Citizens, citing government documents it obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, said that it was “shocked that the very tests and practices that were forbidden years ago for prison inmates are still being conducted on senior citizens in nursing homes.”
