Women outnumber men for the first time in Australia’s history and face a growing shortage of men over the next 20 years, a report published Wednesday said.

For every 100 females over age 15, there are 97 males in the 15.1 million Australian population, said the report in the weekly magazine The Bulletin, based on figures obtained by a family researcher. This represents a surplus of 129,568 women, the report said, adding that for the next 20 years, there probably will be a continuing oversupply of available women competing for the available men.
