British Protest Flogging

LONDON —
The British Foreign Office said Friday that it has protested to Saudi Arabia the flogging of a British engineer who is jailed there for making beer and wine. John Kelly, from Bristol, west of London, received 50 lashes with a cane Thursday and will be given 200 more blows before his 2 1/2-year sentence is over, a Foreign Office spokesman said.
