Hey, when was Media Bimbo Cynthia Allison promoted to film critic (I refer you to the May 12 print ads for “Code of Silence,” featuring a glowing blurb from this sage of cinematic wisdom)?

Since when has KABC’s “Hollywood Closeup” been anything but an addle-minded potpourri of gossip and incestuous industry worship, devoted exclusively to the adoration for every glob of swill that is turned out?

When was the last time Cynthia and Steve Edwards disliked anything?

I think the only bad film on “Hollywood Closeup” is the one that forms over Cynthia and Steve’s eyes as they gaze into their TelePrompTers with all the sincerity of bored but well-tended hookers.

But, of course, if they were hookers, Channel 7 would build a five-part report around them and put them on the 11 p.m. news during sweeps week.
