Still looking for a summer job? Here is a list of programs in the South Bay that help young people who are looking for work:

- Youth Employment Summer (YES), operated by the Private Industry Council of Carson, Lomita and Torrance. Finds jobs for students 16 to 21. Expects to have 350 jobs available, ranging from fast-food to gardening to clerical positions. Pay varies. For information, call (213) 540-JOBS. The council operates a separate, federally sponsored program for handicapped and economically disadvantaged youths in the three cities and expects to have an additional 260 jobs in public and nonprofit agencies. - First Break, operated by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Helps find work for anyone between 16 and 20 who lives in an area served by Los Angeles school district. Expects to have 10,000 jobs available, ranging from maintenance and office work to jobs in amusement and cultural centers. Pay varies. For information, call (213) 625-6688.

- South Bay Consortium, a federally sponsored program. Helps find jobs in public and nonprofit agencies for economically disadvantaged and handicapped youths living in Inglewood, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Gardena, Lawndale and Hawthorne. Participants must be between 14 and 21. About 900 minimum-wage jobs are expected to be available. For information, call (213) 412-5558.
