A federal judge Tuesday sentenced a reputed organized crime figure to eight years in prison for income-tax evasion, conspiring to transport explosives and conspiring to extort money.

James S. Duardi, 64, entered guilty pleas to the charges as part of an agreement with prosecutors. In addition to the sentence, U.S. District Judge Ross T. Roberts imposed a $10,000 fine on Duardi and placed him on five years’ probation, to begin after he completes his prison term.
