Moscow Trolley Fares Going Up to 6 Cents
From Reuters
MOSCOW —
Trolley and trolley bus fares in the Soviet capital will be raised to five kopecks (6 cents) beginning next week to match bus and subway fares, officials announced Wednesday.
A trolley ride now costs 3 1/2 cents. Trolleys operate on an honor system in which passengers drop coins into a slot and tear off their own tickets.
To enter the ornate subway system, people place five kopecks in a turnstile, gaining access to the entire network.
