Egyptian Oil Aide Plans Israeli Visit
From Reuters
JERUSALEM —
Oil Minister Abdel-Hadi Kandil will be the first Egyptian minister to visit Israel in three years when he arrives for a two-day stay next Monday, an Israeli official said Thursday.
Kandil will see President Chaim Herzog, Prime Minister Shimon Peres, Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir and his counterpart, Energy Minister Moshe Shahal, with whom he will discuss Egyptian oil sales to Israel.
Shahal, a Peres confidant, visited Cairo earlier this year as part of the efforts of the two countries to improve their ties.
