Local News in Brief : Burbank’s Assistant Manager Resigns to Take Carlsbad Job

Raymond Patchett, assistant Burbank city manager, has resigned and will become assistant city manager of Carlsbad in San Diego County next month.

Patchett, 37, a 10-year veteran of Burbank government and assistant to the city manager for the last two years, said his resignation was not connected to that of City Manager Andrew Lazzaretto, who left earlier this month under pressure from new Mayor Mary Lou Howard and a newly constituted City Council.

“This is a good professional step for me, and I would be crazy to pass it up,” Patchett said. “But Burbank has been good to me, and I bear no ill will against anyone in Burbank.”

Patchett has been responsible for the daily operation of the city manager’s office, including following up on City Council requests. He also successfully conducted negotiations with three city labor unions.

Patchett will leave Burbank on June 7 and assume his new post as assistant to Carlsbad City Manager Frank Aleshire on June 24.
