SIX VAN CLIBURN FINALISTS NAMED

Judges have culled six pianists from six nations among the dozen competitors remaining in the seventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

They are Philippe Bianconi, 25, of France; Barry Douglas, 25, of Britain; Karoly Mocsari, 22, of Hungary; Emma Takhmizian, 27, of Bulgaria; Hans-Christian Wille, 27, of West Germany; and Jose Feghali, 24, of Brazil.

The six will continue to compete at the Tarrant County Convention Center, and the winner will be announced Sunday, a contest spokesman said.

Competition began May 18 with 36 pianists from 17 countries.
