Christ College Irvine will hold its sixth...

Christ College Irvine will hold its sixth annual commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. today in the college gymnasium. The Rev. Herman A. Etzold, interim dean of students, will receive a doctor of ministry degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind. Bachelor of arts degrees will be presented to 59 students, and eight students will receive the associate of arts degree.

Artist Gerald F. Bommer of North Hollywood will receive an honorary degree for contributions in the area of the arts and sciences, and the Rev. Arnold G. Kuntz of Garden Grove will receive an honorary degree for contributions to civic leadership and social welfare.

The Rev. David M. Stirdivant of Los Angeles will be presented with the Christus Mundo (“We Preach to the World”) Award for his service to the church and community, particularly his efforts with Spanish-speaking missions and the Latino ministry.

The Rev. Oswald C.J. Hoffmann, professor at Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y., will be the keynote speaker. Hoffmann has been the radio preacher on the Lutheran Hour radio program since 1955.

A reception will follow the commencement ceremony in the campus cafe. The college is at 1530 Concordia, Irvine. For additional information, call 854-8002.
