RTD Service

Share

I would like to propose a new city ordinance making it mandatory that the managers and directors of the Southern California Rapid Transit District be required to ride their buses to and from their offices for at least six months out of every year. It would be interesting to see whether the RTD service would improve when these appointed officials are stranded at connection points for 45 minutes (while being passed up, of course, by eight buses) in the middle of the morning and evening rush hours.

I am sure that arriving at their offices after these daily nightmares would lend a heretofore lacking sense of urgency in their pleas for that cash-eating monster, the Metro Rail, and we would all be more likely to believe their cries for higher fares knowing that they had to spend 2 to 3 hours a day getting to and from work like the thousands of fellow citizens at their mercy. Of course, they probably don’t have a bus stop near their offices, but a little walking never hurt anyone.
