Deputy’s Death May Be Murder
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy thought to have been killed in a collision on the San Bernardino Freeway over the weekend now appears to have been murdered, authorities said today. A preliminary investigation by the coroner’s office revealed that Deputy George Lynn Arthur, 37, apparently had been shot, a coroner’s spokesman said.”
California Highway Patrol investigators said Arthur had driven onto the Mission Road on-ramp of the southbound Santa Ana Freeway shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday when he swerved over a raised median and onto the eastbound San Bernardino Freeway. Arthur then lost control of his van and hit a 12-foot-high concrete retaining wall head-on, investigators said.
