100-M.P.H. Chase Ends in Arrest
An hourlong chase from Fullerton to San Pedro, which hit 100 m.p.h. at times and involved police cars from seven jurisdictions, ended early today when the suspect slammed his 11-year-old auto into a parked car, then dashed into San Pedro Peninsula Hospital, yelling that he was going to the psychiatric ward.
Instead, Fullerton police said, the suspect was subdued in the lobby by three officers, one of whom was bitten on the leg. Jon R. Holstrom, 21, of Brea was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault, evading arrest and reckless driving. Police, who had originally tried to stop him for questioning in another matter, said they had no idea why he chose to flee.
