ABBEVILLE, La. —
A judge on Monday delayed until early August a trial for child molestation suspect Llewellen Fickes, the brother of Sen. Paula Hawkins (R-Fla.). A defense attorney had sought more time to prepare his case.
Fickes has been in jail for nearly a year awaiting trial on six felony charges alleging the sexual battery of his 11-year-old stepdaughter, an 8-year-old niece and a 12-year-old girlfriend of one of the children.
Fickes will remain in jail in lieu of $270,000 bond, Vermilion Parish officials said.
