An unarmed man who was shot by a Los Angeles police officer died after surgery for head wounds, officials at Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital said. Nikita Broadnex, 20, was one of several young men standing near a West 92nd Street apartment complex when officers Douglas R. Senecal and Christopher M. Giles approached to investigate sounds of breaking glass and gunshots, detectives said. When one of the men pointed a gun at Senecal, the officer fired, striking Broadnex in the forehead, police said. The armed man was not injured.
