The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s Desegregation and Integration Evaluation and Advisory Committee was suspended by the Board of Education Monday night.

Board members said there was no reason for the committee to meet until desegregation plans under study by staff and other volunteer committees are completed. The committee was responsible for evaluating the district’s voluntary integration plan. The board has appointed a task force to study ways to improve integration at Edison Elementary School, which has an 80% minority enrollment.
