Transportation Panel Approved
The Lawndale City Council last week approved establishment of a nine-member Transportation Issues Committee. It will meet weekly and advise the council, the city engineer and the planning commission on transportation issues.
The committee will not replace the Traffic and Safety Commission, which was suspended last April, but will address similar problems, Assistant City Manager Paula Cone said.
Commission meetings were halted after the council complained about lack of progress on traffic circulation and parking problems.
The suspension came after the commission also held an unscheduled meeting at a member’s home. State law requires that public bodies meet publicly.
