Super Valu to Buy West Coast Grocery Co.

MINNEAPOLIS — Super Valu Stores Inc. said it agreed to acquire West Coast Grocery Co. of Tacoma, Wash., for an undisclosed amount of cash.
Super Valu said the acquisition is expected to be completed in mid-July, subject to approval of West Coast’s shareholders.
West Coast is a distributor serving more than 1,000 retail food stores in the Pacific Northwest. It has current sales of more than $1.1 billion a year, Super Valu said.
