Los Angeles-based Collins Foods International reported record revenue for its fiscal year and fourth quarter ended April 30. Net income for the year rose 18%. The company attributed the improvement to gains by its three principal operating businesses, Sizzler, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Collins Foodservice.

Storage Technology, a maker of printers and data-storage and retrieval equipment for high-performance computers that is operating under Chapter 11, reported a net loss for the first quarter ended March 29 of $29.7 million on revenue of $162 million. Of that loss, $16.2 million resulted from the cumulative effects of changes in revenue reporting methods in previous periods. The new policy accounts for revenue later in the marketing cycle and, in effect, delays recognition of income. During the same period last year, the company reported a net loss of $16.7 million on revenue of $179.5 million. Operating losses for the first quarter were $13.5 million, compared to $16.7 million.
