Garden Grove : 2nd Automobile Dealer Will Move Into Center

A second automobile dealer has signed a contract to move into the Garden Grove Auto Center, a redevelopment project expected to include three dealers.

Wilfred Roof, president of Garden City Dodge, said the firm hopes to break ground by September on a 3.5-acre site.

The auto center project is south of Trask Avenue, north of the Garden Grove Freeway and west of Brookhurst Street.

Vicki Nelson, a city economic development specialist, said the final land price could be as low as $3 per square foot for a total of about $392,000, depending on whether the dealership qualifies for bonuses given for swift completion.

Roof said he expects sales to increase but not as dramatically as the current center tenant, Garden Grove Toyota, simply because Dodge sales are lower than Toyota’s. “Who knows?” he said. “A move like this is all speculative, but we fully anticipate a 50% increase.”
