The one-time victim of a nationally publicized kidnaping is to be married today in Merced. Steven Stayner, now 20, was 7 when he vanished from a Merced street. Seven years later he appeared at a Ukiah police station with a 5-year-old boy who had been abducted in that community two weeks earlier. Stayner told Ukiah officers he didn’t want the younger boy to go through what he had experienced. A drifter, Kenneth Parnell, now 53, was arrested and spent more than five years in prison for the two kidnapings before he was paroled last April 9. Stayner will marry Jody Edmondson, 17.
