Reed M. Powell, a business professor at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, will become the dean of United States International University's School of Business and Management on July 1, a university spokesman said Wednesday.

Powell succeeds David Feldman, who left USIU last fall to take a position with Grossmont Community College in La Mesa.

Powell joined Cal Poly's business department in 1974 as dean. He was associate dean of the Ohio State University School of Business Administration from 1968 to 1974. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Brigham Young University and received a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.

USIU's business and management school has a full-time faculty of 17 and a graduate and undergraduate student enrollment of 700 full- and part-time students.
