11 Killed, 70 Wounded in Beirut

BEIRUT —
Shia Muslim gunmen clashed with Palestinian forces at two embattled refugee camps today while rival Christian and Muslim militiamen battled in the heart of the capital. At least 11 people were killed and more than 70 wounded.
Clashes between Shia Amal militiamen and Palestinians escalated at dawn around the Borj el Brajne and Chatilla camps and intensified through the day, but a Lebanese army officer said the situation was a standoff.
