Vault Corp. filed suit against Quaid Software.

The Westlake Village-based firm’s $100-million lawsuit claims that Toronto-based Quaid illegally “broke” an early version of Vault’s software protection system, Prolok, damaging the company’s reputation and resulting in a consequent loss in sales. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, said Quaid “has engaged in the constant and persistent course of . . . obtaining copies of the Prolok software and decompiling and disassembling the Prolok software” in violation of Louisiana’s Software License Enforcement Act.
