ROCK REPETITIVENESS

Got a few seconds?
Let’s try to count how many times we can get the words “Born in the USA” into this letter. The goal here is to get the phrase in as many times as did Springsteen in his recent hit “Born in the USA” from his album entitled “Born in the USA.”
It makes sense to dwell on the quote, because it represents the repetitive elements in Springsteen’s music “Born in the USA, Born in the USA. . . .”
Of course, this is all probably sounding ridiculous. After all Springsteen is a talented artist, just as Phil Collins is, and to make a major case of the repetition is absurd.
But somehow this is what Hilburn managed to do in his review of Collins at Irvine Meadows. Come on, Hilburn, let’s try making some substantial statements.
