ROCK REPETITIVENESS

Hilburn’s review of the Collins concert did much to display Hilburn’s narrow and limited view of pop music.
Collins did not appear lackluster. He showed a quality lacking in most of today’s rock stars: enthusiasm for his own music, without being pompous and overbearing.
Was Hilburn so separated from the audience that he could not notice the rapport that Collins had with the fans? His “guy next door” attitude is unusual for a rock star, but this is one musician who does not rely on his looks and his videos. Instead. Collins creates well-written, well-produced and tightly packaged music.
If Hilburn can not see this, Collins’ fans surely do.
